The victim was former army general Mike Jones-Mathias, 55. The incident occurred while he was on a work trip and had just finished dinner with his colleagues when he went down to a bar in Pattaya. At that time he was on his way back to his hotel on May 17, 2018.

I don't know why he called emergency number 911 in the morning - five minutes before CCTV caught him being hit on the floor.

The CCTV footage shows the ex-officer flying towards two Thai men. One of the two men jumped at him and landed a fatal blow to the side of his neck, the former officer fell to the ground.

As a result of the blow, Mike suffered damage to the right frontal lobe in his brain and was finally flown to Cardiff six weeks later. But he died on March 24 this year after his health deteriorated.

Security officer Phumphat Tanosingh was charged with severe bodily injury from the beating and facing trial in Thailand.

But he was found not guilty after claiming self-defense. he explained that Mike had tried to leave the Mandarin Agogo bar without paying his bill.

However, Mike's wife, Veronica did not accept the release of the two men.
