Unbelievable; Due to Corona, Tripadvisor Online Trip Startup Does Layoffs to 900 Employee

Tripadvisor, an online travel startup, is doing layoffs to more than 900 employees spread throughout the world, as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic.

The amount is quite large, because it is the same as 25% of the total Tripadvisor employees scattered in various countries. Meanwhile, 600 of the 900 employees came from the United States and Canada.

Tripadvisor also announced that most of their salaried workers were asked to work four days a week and take a 20% discount on their salaries in the next three months to help maintain around 100 jobs.

The locations of these startup offices in San Francisco and Boston, USA, will be permanently closed and those who work there are advised to work from home.

"This is the most difficult cost-saving decision I have ever made. But I and the executive leadership team firmly believe they are treated and comparable to the reality we face as business and industry," said Tripadvisor CEO Steve Kaufer.

Before the Coronavirus broke out, this startup had cut costs and laid off 200 of its employees in January. However, the tourism industry that was most affected by this pandemic, made companies engaged in it affected.
