Justin Gaethje insisted he was not a UFC champion before he beat Khabib Nurmagomedov in the battle at the octagon.

Gaethje is currently crowned as UFC lightweight interim champion after the TKO win over Tony Ferguson in the UFC 249 fight at the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena, Florida, United States, Sunday (10 May) morning.

Fighters from the United States are also likely to face Khabib for the race for the UFC championship belt. Gaethje himself was in fact a substitute fighter in the face of El Cucuy after Khabib retired due to the coronavirus pandemic.

However, it was Gaethje who had the right to face Khabib after conquering Ferguson in the race for the interim champion. Now he claims he can't wait to be one octagon with the best Russian fighter.

Gaethje was sure he could break Khabib's glory at the UFC by making the Dagestan-born fighter face down.

After defeating Ferguson, Gaethje immediately threw up a challenge to fight Khabib.
