News24xx.com - Hana Kimura, a rising star of women’s professional wrestling in Japan and one of six castmates of Netflix's “Terrace House” has died. She was 22.

World Wonder Ring Stardom, Kimura's wrestling organization, confirmed the news on Twitter.

While the cause of death wasn’t immediately clear, some fans and industry professionals are pointing out several instances of cyberbullying she’d recently faced.

“The death of Hana Kimura is an absolute tragedy,” wrestling journalist Adam Pacitti tweeted. “I hope this serves as a reminder that interactions on social media can have a serious effect on the mental health of anyone, no matter who they are. Be kind. RIP.”

“It absolutely breaks my heart how cruel people can be on social media,” Impact World Champion Tessa Blanchard wrote.

Kimura, the daughter of a well-known female wrestler in Japan, Kyoko Kimura, started wrestling in 2016.

According to Variety, during her short-lived career she won the Artist of Stardom championship twice, as well as the Goddess of Stardom championship.

Kimura was also part of the cast of Netflix’s popular reality show “Terrace House: Tokyo,” in which six strangers share a house, “looking for love while living under the same roof.”

Production for the show was halted due to the coronavirus pandemic.

In the days before her death, Kimura shared a series of social media posts suggesting that she was being targeted by hateful and abusive messages online.

On Friday, she reportedly shared images of self-harm on Twitter with the message, “I don’t want to be a human anymore. It was a life I wanted to be loved. Thank you everyone, I love you. Bye,” according to the BBC.

Her most recent Instagram story update showed a picture of herself with her cat, under the caption “goodbye.”

"Please be respectful and allow some time for things to process, and keep your thoughts and prayers with her family and friends,” World Wonder Ring Stardom tweeted in English. “We appreciate your support during this difficult time.”
