News24xx.com -  Georgia recorded its youngest coronavirus death Sunday, a 17-year-old boy from Fulton County.

The teenager, who has not been publicly identified, suffered a “chronic condition,” according to the Georgia Department of Public Health.

The youngest reported Georgia death had previously been a 22-year-old woman from Muscogee County. She also is listed with a “chronic condition.”

While the younger population has been far less ravaged by coronavirus, health officials have recently been warning about Kawasaki-like Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome, or MIS-C.

Symptoms include prolonged fever, red eyes, a rash, reddening or peeling on palms and soles of feet, abdominal pain, vomiting and diarrhea.

It’s unclear if the 17-year-old complained of any such symptoms.

Georgia has reported more than 43,000 coronavirus cases so far and at least 1,827 deaths, according to the Department of Public Health.

As of May 20, 47.3% of Georgia’s coronavirus deaths were black or African-American, almost 25 percentage points higher than the national average, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
