Cruel, a Florida woman has confessed to the murder of her autistic son

News24xx.com -  A Florida woman has confessed to the chilling murder of her 9-year-old autistic son.

Patricia Ripley, of Miami-Dade County, told investigators Saturday that she drowned son Alejandro saying that “he’s going to be in a better place.”

Her arrest came a little over a day after she reported to police that Alejandro had been kidnapped by two men, who also took her car.

According to the Miami Herald, police say that murder was well-planned.

Ripley, 45, attempted to drown her son, who was nonverbal, earlier on Thursday. After he was rescued by unnamed witnesses, Ripley tried it again about an hour later, in a different canal.

“This time, unfortunately, there was no one there to save him,” Miami-Dade State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle told the local ABC-affiliate WPLG.

His body was found around 7:50 a.m. on Friday floating in a canal in Kendale Lakes, a quiet neighborhood in Miami-Dade. He was wearing a blue Captain America T-shirt and diapers.

An autopsy was being conducted Saturday.

On Thursday, Ripley, who’s Hispanic, told investigators that two black men forced her car off the road, then demanded drugs. Since she didn’t have any, she told Miami-Dade police, they took the child, her cellphone and a tablet.

Detectives became suspicious after she gave them conflicting details about the kidnapping, according to a police report obtained by the Miami Herald.

A surveillance video at a nearby Home Depot shows Ripley waiting in her parked car for more than 15 minutes before reporting the kidnapping.
