More than 26,000 Lives Taken, Spain Holds 10 Days of Mourning for Corona Victims

News24xx.com - Spain will hold 10 days of official mourning for victims of the Corona epidemic. So far the Coronavirus is known to have claimed nearly 27,000 lives.

As reported by AFP on Tuesday (26 May 2020) the mourning period will begin on Wednesday (27 May) local time. All flags in public buildings will be lowered to half a pole.

Through his Twitter account, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez said it would be "10 days, the longest period of mourning in our democracy, where we will all express our sadness and pay homage to those who have died."

Spain on Monday (25 May) said the Coronavirus had so far claimed 26,834 lives, revising the number of deaths to nearly 2,000 cases after changes in the data collection system.
