Riau Governor Syamsuar revealed the reason Riau is implementing the new normal. According to him the number of cases of Covid-19 cases in Riau which has declined is the reason for the implementation of the new normal.

"The COVID-19 case in Riau Province shows a decline. It is one of the indicators set by the center for regions entering the new normal phase," Syamsuar said, quoting from his facebok account @ Syamsuar on Friday, May 29, 2020

Syamsuar also said that the new normal plan had been discussed with the task force, the health community, state-owned enterprises (BUMN), Region-owned enterprises (BUMD), religious leaders, community leaders, academics, TNI-Polri, Forkompida, and other people's representatives.

"New normal in Riau will be applied to 6 regions that have previously carried out PSBB, namely Pekanbaru City, Siak Regency, Kampar Regency, Pelalawan Regency, Bengkalis Regency, and Dumai City," he explained.

To note also the word Syamsuar, new normal does not mean ease anything, it is rather tightening health protocols in every community activity.
