When protests against the death of George Floyd at the hands of a police officer continued to spread throughout the state in the United States, the perpetrator was eventually thrown into custody.

According to Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman, Chauvin is currently charged with third-degree murder and second-degree murder. According to the Prosecutor, Chauvin acted with "a corrupt mind, without regard to human life."

Chauvin was not the only one facing punishment by the Minneapolis Police because three other officers involved in the incident were also fired from the police.
