News24xx.com - Belgium’s Prince Joachim, 10th in line for the throne, traveled to Spain on May 26 from his homeland for an internship. While in the city of Cordoba, he attended a party. Two days later, Joachim tested positive for COVID-19, reported BBC News. A Spanish report suggested the nephew of Belgium’s King Philippe was among the more than two dozen partygoers.

Under Cordoba’s coronavirus regulations, social gatherings are allowed up to 15 people, according to the BBC.

Now, police in Spain have commenced a probe. For those individuals guilty of flouting lockdown regulations, each faces a whopping fine of up to $11,000.

All of the partygoers are reportedly in quarantine; and the prince, who remains in Spain, is said to be experiencing mild COVID-19 symptoms.

One Cordoba government official denounced the party as “irresponsible.”

“I feel surprised and angry,” said Rafaela Valenzuela. “An incident of this type stands out at a moment of national mourning for so many dead.”
