The arrest of former TNI member Ruslan Buton who asked Jokowi to resign continued to draw criticism. Deputy Chair of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) from the United Development Party (PPP) Faction Arsul Sani said that the National Police should not have apprehended the arrest of certain parties on the grounds of alleged violation of the Law on Information and Electronic Transactions (ITE). Ruslan was arrested at his home in Wabula I Village, Wabula District, Buton Regency, Southeast Sulawesi. Then flown to Jakarta. Arsul, who is also a member of the Law Commission of Republic Indonesia Council, assessed that Ruslan's open letter actually had no effect. Then there is no need for detention of Ruslan.

"There is no indication that what Ruslan said made the people provoked to commit treason or against President Jokowi," he said.

Likewise with Article 27 and Article 28 Articles in the Criminal Code such as Article 207, Articles 310 and 31 which are used to ensnare Ruslan. According to him, it is a rubber article that is very multi-interpreted so that it is not appropriate to be arrested immediately.

According to him, the police should gather evidence, ask for expert testimony, after that all can determine the legal status of Ruslan Buton, without being immediately arrested and detained.
