Minister of Religion Fachrul Razi was considered offside because it unilaterally canceled the departure of the Hajj.

Pursuant to Law No. 8 of 2019 concerning the Implementation of the Hajj and Umrah Pilgrimage, it has clearly stipulated the procedure for the implementation of the Hajj and Umrah pilgrimage, that all decisions are discussed and decided by the government together with the Council.

The religious minister did something wrong, this important matter does not involve the Council. The Minister of Religion seems to be illiterate in understanding the law, "said the Indonesian Parliament Member from PKS Faction Nurhasana Zaidi in his official statement, Jakarta, Wednesday (3/6/2020).

He also explained, the pilgrimage is closely related to the livelihood of the people. With this cancellation, the problems that occur are not only departure and repatriation but also including the pilgrimage funds that have been paid by participants and the National Budget for the implementation of the hajj as well as contingency plans related to the possibility of cancellation.

"The government should wisely refrain from announcing this, yet we have agreed and an agenda that the day after tomorrow, Thursday, June 4, 2020, the new commission VIII will meet with the relevant ministries while waiting for an official decision from the Saudis."

"We understand that there are many priority considerations for the cancellation of the pilgrimage, but all contingency plans should be effectively communicated and we decide on the meeting table," he said.

This Commission VIII member also explained that his party agreed to call the Minister of Religion to clarify this matter. "Because it was proven that only a few moments when the public was announced were noisy. The Minister of Religion must take responsibility, including revoking the KMA if it turns out there is a better contingency plan that we decide at the meeting tomorrow," he concluded.
