Director of PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Irfan Sebuahutra spoke out about the layoffs of about 181 pilots on the red plate airline.

Irfan explained, that what was actually done by his party was an early settlement of the employee's employment contract with the pilot profession in the status of a certain time employment relationship.

"Through the completion of the contract, Garuda Indonesia continues to fulfill its obligations on pilot rights in accordance with the applicable contract period," said Irfan in a press release, Jakarta, Wednesday (06/03/2020).

Irfan added, this was an ongoing step that needed to be taken in an effort to harmonize the supply and demand of aviation operations that were currently significantly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
