News24xx.com - The Ministry of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia on Tuesday 2 June 2020 announced yesterday that 221,000 prospective Indonesian pilgrims from 2020 failed to depart for the holy land of Mecca. The decision was the impact of Covid Pandemic 19 that hit the world.

In its virtual press release, the Ministry of Religion announced the total number of pilgrims who failed to leave for holy land as many as 221,000 consisting of 203,320 regular Hajj quota and 17,680 special Hajj quota.

Of the 221,000 prospective pilgrims, 36 of them are pilgrim candidates from Tualang sub-district, Siak Regency, Riau.

Representatives of the regular pilgrims from Tualang Sub-district, Faisal SHi, said they were sad because this year they were unable to leave for the fifth pillar of Islam.

"Regarding the departure of pilgrims who failed to depart because Covid 19 feels quite sad. However, this is all for the common good. The policies taken by the Government are also right. We all continue to follow the government's recommendations. Hopefully next year all pilgrims who fail Hajj candidates leaving this year is given health and can carry out the fifth pillar of Islam, "he said.

Meanwhile, Head of the Religious Affairs Office (KUA) of Tualang District, Najamuddin said, 32 regular pilgrims and 4 prospective pilgrims from the Tualang District had been contacted and given understanding regarding the postponement of the pilgrimage to 2021.

"Yes, we have contacted everything. Alhamdulillah, the congregation from Tualang obeyed and obeyed the rules. Responding to that, the subdistrict head of Tualang Zalik Efendi SSos appealed to the pilgrims candidates not to be discouraged because they could not go to the holy land this year. He asked the pilgrims to keep their health and pray so that next year all pilgrims can perform the pilgrimage.

"Keep the spirit, keep healthy, we pray together so that this epidemic ends soon and our brothers can carry out the pilgrimage next year calmly and comfortably," he urged.
