The Story of DW Who is Left by His Sister, Father, and Mother Due to COVID-19

News24xx.com - A sad tragedy was experienced by one family in Surabaya, East Java. A woman and her fetus die due to exposure to Coronavirus Disease 2019 or COVID-19.

At the same time, his father and mother, who lived in the same house, also died with the status of the patient under surveillance or PDP. Ironically, the deceased's 17-month-old husband and son also got the results of his reactive rapid test.

DW, the younger sister of the woman who died, told her story, her sister and her husband and child lived in the same house as their parents in the Gubeng area, Surabaya. "(Sister) already has a child, (her age) 17 months. Now with her husband are in isolation independently in a hotel because it's rapid reactive," he told VIVAnews via text message on Thursday, June 4, 2020.

She explained the grief began when her sister went to an eight-month-old obstetrician to a hospital in the Ampel area, Surabaya, in the middle of May 2020. There, she was escorted by her husband. After returning from the hospital, DW's husband was ill but healed himself. After that, it was the turn of DW's older brother whose health dropped.

Because it has not improved, the next day, May 26, 2020, DW's brother was taken to Surabaya PHC Hospital again. A few hours later, the hospital gave word that he was confirmed positive for COVID-19. On Wednesday morning, May 27, 2020, the hospital gave word that DW's sister had experienced respiratory failure and was assisted by a ventilator.

At that time, the fetus's eight-month-old fetal heartbeat was found to be beating no more. "My sister died on 31 (May) at 01.50 after a fetal removal operation the day before," DW said.

When his brother was hospitalized, DW told that his mother's health condition also worsened on the first Eid Al-Fitr, Sunday, May 24, 2020. The next day, DW's father was also sick. The mother was then escorted to the RKZ hospital. There, the mother was infused and told to go outpatient.

On Saturday morning, May 30, 2020, DW's father passed away. Shortly after, his mother died. "Papa-mama has not had time to swab. So, died PDP status (patients under surveillance)," he said.

Although sad, DW and his family claimed to surrender and be willing to God's destiny. He was sure that the three people he loved were Husnul Khatimah.
