News24xx.com - Riau people, especially Pekanbaru City are troubled by soaring electricity bills reaching 100 to 200 percent, amid economic difficulties due to the corona virus pandemic or Covid-19.

Responding to that, member of Riau DPRD Commission IV, Almainis will call on PLN to hear related to the surge in electricity bills for the 1,300VA customers.

"As a community, obviously I do not agree that electricity tariffs will rise. This is very burdensome to the community," Almainis told Riau1.com, Friday, June 5, 2020.

"For that, we will call on the PLN so that the tariff increase is postponed and the policy is reviewed again," he said.

According to Almainis, the surge in public electricity bills in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic is clearly very burdensome because the economy is not yet stable.

"We will call PLN, but we coordinate with the leadership. Because, yesterday we had scheduled a hearing with PLN at the beginning of the fast, but it has not yet been carried out due to Covid-19," he concluded.

Meanwhile, Ira, a housewife (IRT) domiciled in Pekanbaru, was shocked when she saw the June 2020 electricity bill, which experienced an increase of up to 100 percent. In fact, since last January the electricity bill was still on average normal.

He said, last month (May 2020, red) the electricity bill was Rp.390,000 and April was Rp374,000. But in June the bill increased sharply to Rp650,000.

"Even though daily use is the same, there have been no changes at all, even in the previous months too," Ira said questioningly.
