"We came to this Fisheries Service to consult about inland aquaculture. The plan is, we (PWI) will empower existing pond facilities in the PWI yard. Where the existing pond has a width of 1 meter and 1.5 meters deep. Unfortunately if the pond we do not use this to develop the fisheries sector such as Nila, Lele and Gurami, "explained PWI Peduli Chairwoman Edhar Darlis to Riau Province Fisheries and Maritime Services Office Head Herman Muhammad in his office on Friday (05/06/2020).
Also present was the Secretary of the PWI Honorary Board of Riau Fendri Jaswir, the Secretary of PWI Caring Satria Utama Batubara, Deputy Secretary of PWI Caring for Zulmiron, PWI Caretaker Treasurer Luna Agustin, Deputy Treasurer of PWI Caring Herlina and the Creative Economy Division of Deslina.
Related to this inland fishery development plan, said Edhar, as one of the PWI Riau's roles in supporting the food security program which is one of the Riau Provincial Government's flagship programs. In addition, it also helps improve the economics of PWI member journalists.
"Therefore, we also ask for cooperation to conduct training or special aquaculture workshops for Riau PWI members. For training later, the speakers will come directly from the Riau Fisheries and Maritime Service. The purpose of the training is to provide briefings to fellow PWI member journalists on how to or good aquaculture techniques, "said Edhar.

On the same occasion, the Head of the Riau Province Fisheries and Fisheries Office Herman Muhammad immediately responded positively and welcomed the plan of the PWI Cares management who will carry out this aquaculture development activity.
"For fish, I suggest catfish, catfish or tilapia. Specifically catfish can harvest 3 months. Later we will first survey the conditions at the PWI office, what is approximately suitable for cultivation," he advised.
According to Herman, the current food security program continues to be developed by the Riau Provincial Government as directed by the Governor of Riau Syamsuar. "Both inland fisheries and horticulture are still very big opportunities to be developed. No. Must have to have a large area of ??land, existing housing can be used for fisheries and agriculture. Minimum for self consumption," he said. ***
