News24xx.com - The name of Wae Rebo Traditional Village in Manggarai, NTT, is certainly already popular with travelers. This destination is also included in the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage.

An interesting and valuable experience in the journey notes when heading to the East of Indonesia, precisely in the village of Wae Rebo, Manggarai Regency, Flores, East Nusa Tenggara. Known as the village on the clouds and declared UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage in August 2012 by setting aside 42 other countries. Amazing is not it?

Not only that, but its location at an altitude of 1,200 M above sea level and there are also 7 main houses called "Mbaru Niang" are the main attraction.

The long journey begins with the route Tanjung Selor - Tarakan - Makassar - Denpasar - Labuan Bajo - Ruteng - Wae Rebo.

Tanjung Selor (North Kalimantan) - Labuan Bajo (Flores, East Nusa Tenggara)

It took two days to be able to arrive in Labuan Bajo, starting from Tanjung Selor to Tarakan by speedboat through the river and sea for about one and a half hours. Next, I went to Makassar, choosing Makassar as my first stop for the next day to continue the journey with the route Makassar - Denpasar - Labuan Bajo. After many times having to get on and off the plane I arrived at Komodo Airport "Labuan Bajo", this is my second stop before I continue my journey overland to the City of Ruteng.

Labuan Bajo - Ruteng, Manggarai

From Labuan Bajo to the city of 1000 Church "Nickname of the city of Ruteng", it took us 4 hours down the famous Trans Flores road with a meandering path combined with natural scenery.

Ruteng - Wae Rebo

Crossing the road which is still in the form of a ravine without borders, until the ground and rocks are slippery when it rains, caution is needed when stepping, luckily when we climbed we were not in the rain even though the road was foggy because of the rain before we climbed. The weather began to clear until it reached the second post, from here we can throw our long-distance views to see the dense forest and blue sea in the distance.

Almost 3 hours to reach the last post before actually entering the village. The mandatory thing to do before entering the village is to ring the clap of bamboo which is in the small post of arrival marker, even when hitting it must not be careless, because the number of blows means the number of tourists who will enter.

In addition, tourists are not allowed to do all activities in the village area, including taking pictures before the welcoming ceremony, which is called local residents "Pau Wae Lu" This ceremony aims to ask permission and protection of ancestral spirits for tourists who are visiting.

After the ceremony, I was taken to one of the "Mbaru Niang" places where tourists would stay overnight and blend in with the owner of the house. The uniqueness of the house is clearly visible when inside the house with a cone-shaped palm leaf roof with palm fiber plus it is divided into 5 levels with their respective functions.

The fifth level of the top-level functioned as a place where they put offerings for melting, down to the bottom of the fourth level as a place to store food stocks. Underneath the third level functions as storage of seeds for farming. For the second level is not much different from the fourth level, its function is also as food storage and finally, the basic room is designated as a residence.
