Strict; Breaking Lockdown to Meet Her Boyfriend, Singaporean Woman is Fined IDR 51 Million

News24xx.com - The woman named Renukha Arumugam was sentenced to a fine in court on Monday (15 June) local time, after being convicted of five violations under the COVID-19 Act (Provisional Measures) of 19 2020.

The violations consisted of two charges of meeting individuals not from their place of residence for social purposes, two counts of leaving home for no apparent reason, and one indictment of not wearing a mask properly when outside the home.

According to the indictment, Renukha left her house three times during the lockdown, which consisted of two times to meet her lover and once met a friend. She left her apartment in Jurong West to meet his girlfriend on April 12, early morning. The two of them met on a stone bench in front of Clementi West Street 2's apartment. Five days later, she returned to leave her apartment to meet her girlfriend in the same location.

Renukha was also accused of not wearing a mask properly, or not covering his nose and mouth when she left her apartment the same day.

According to court documents, Renukha had a problem with her family and tried to call her lover but was not picked up, so she decided to go to her lover's apartment. During one of her visits, said the prosecutor, Renukha was drunk.

Meanwhile, Renukha's lover received a notice of composition, or received a fine without trial, for his violation. Renukha did not receive the same sentence because there were too many violations committed during the lockdown.
