Jokowi Alert: 'Don't Lose Investors from China Again Like Last Year'

During his visit to Central Java, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) took the time to visit the Integrated Industrial Estate in Kendal. This area is expected to accommodate and attract foreign companies who want to get out of China.

Jokowi asked ministers and heads of related institutions to really prepare the area to attract foreign investors. He did not want Indonesia to be lost again in fighting over investors coming out of China.

He revealed this when conducting a survey of an industrial area located in Ketanggan Village. Gringsing Kec, Batang Regency. During the visit, he was also accompanied by the Head of BKPM Bahlil Lahadalia, SOE Minister Erick Thohir, PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono, Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi, and Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung.

"Do not let the events of last year happen again. There is no relocation from China, 33 of our companies did not get one," he said as quoted by a live video on the YouTube account of the Presidential Secretariat, Tuesday (30 June 2020).

Therefore Jokowi asked his staff, especially the Head of BKPM to provide the best service for foreign companies. He wants them to be given the ease in everything.

Jokowi hopes that Indonesia can offer far more attractive offers from other countries.
