Not Enough by Banning TikTok et al, India is Also Planning to Block Huawei

After TikTok et al, India will block HuaweiAfter TikTok et al, India will block Huawei - India is considering banning Huawei from participating in the procurement of 5G networks in the country. Even though a few months ago they had gotten the green light to test 5G in India.

This news came after the Indian government decided to block 59 applications from China, including TikTok and WeChat, because they were considered a threat to national security.

Counterpoint Research Research Director Neil Shah said this consideration was certainly taken in view of the increasingly tense relations between India and China. Shah said Huawei and ZTE would likely suffer heavy losses if the Indian government truly banned them.

Huawei's presence in the Indian telecommunications industry is indeed quite large. Two major operators in India, Bharti Airtel and Vodafone India, use several vendors for their networks including Huawei.

Huawei's telecommunications equipment also covers one-third of the Bharti Airtel network and 40% of the Vodafone Idea network, based on Counterpoint Research data.

If India really will ban Huawei, the position of the giant from China is increasingly cornered. After being banned by the US until at least next year, they also could no longer operate in the country with the second largest population in the world.
