Push the West Bank, Israel Argues to Hold Peace with PalestinePush the West Bank, Israel Argues to Hold Peace with Palestine

News24xx.com - Israel wants to annex or annex the West Bank. In fact, Israel is willing to negotiate with the Palestinians on the pretext of peace to obtain the territory.

As is known, Palestine and the international community have condemned the annexation plan as a violation of international law and a threat to regional stability.

In a recent statement on Monday (29 June) local time, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Michelle Bachelet, called the annexation of the West Bank by Israel clearly "illegal". He warned that the consequences of the move could trigger a 'disaster'.

However, Israeli Prime Minister (PM), Benjamin Netanyahu, said he was willing to negotiate with the Palestinians on the basis of a Middle East 'peace plan' proposed by US President Donald Trump. This was said ahead of the planned annexation of parts of the West Bank by Israel.

As reported by the Xinhua News Agency on Monday (29 June 2020), Netanyahu's statement was delivered through a recorded speech first and delivered at a conference held by 'Christians United for Israel', a pro-Israel evangelical group based in the US.

The speech was delivered two days before the annexation of parts of the occupied West Bank. In his speech, Netanyahu encouraged Palestinians to accept Trump's plans.

"I urge Palestine not to miss another opportunity," Netanyahu said in his speech. "They must be prepared to negotiate a historic compromise that can bring peace to Israelis and Palestinians," he said.

Netanyahu set July 1 as the date for his plan to annex the Jordan Valley, which covers 30 percent of the West Bank. Israel has occupied the West Bank since the 1967 Middle East War.

In response to this, Palestinians are ready to renew long-stalled peace talks with Israel. Palestinians are also ready to approve "minor" territorial concessions.

As reported by AFP on Tuesday (30 June 2020), this readiness is listed in a center proposal to Trump's controversial plan.
