News24xx.com - Allegedly engaging in sexual acts at a holy site in Ubud, police in Ubud apprehended two men, citing the discovery of condoms at the scene as evidence. 

“We apprehended two men we suspect have committed a homosexual act on Tuesday at Pura Beji in Ubud,” I Wayan Gede Mudana, who heads Ubud Police’s criminal investigation unit, said today. 

Mudana said police seized a used condom and a new one as evidence, as well as two bottles of lubricating oil.

According to reports, the men, identified as GU and NS, were caught in the act by local residents in the area, who then reported the matter to village officials. The two men were allegedly having sex near the river of a local temple and fled the scene as soon as they were found out. 

“The witness was fishing in the river right next to the temple when he saw two men completely naked: one was standing while the other bent over, and the witness tried to approach them but they ran away and left behind one motorbike [at the scene],” Mudana said.

Police were able to trace their whereabouts based on the motorbike plate number, and they were subsequently taken to the police station in Ubud. 

GU and NS could potentially be charged with Article 281 under the criminal code (KUHP) on public indecency, which carries a maximum sentence of two years and eight months in prison.
