News24xx.com - A migrant worker from Indonesia is currently being treated in a hospital in Saudi Arabia, he is suspected of being a victim of "torture", according to certainty from the Indonesian Consulate General in Jeddah.

The migrant worker is known as Sulasih Binti Sukiran Sadli, who is from Karanganyar, Central Java, and is unconscious at a hospital in Jeddah.

An official at the Indonesian Consulate General in Jeddah, Muhammad Yusuf, said that currently, Sulasih was "in critical condition".

The news that Sulasih was being treated at home in Saudi was known from her son, Anggi, who had asked the Indonesian Consulate General in Jeddah and the Indonesian Migrant Workers' Union (SBMI) in the city.

"Based on Anggi's statement, Sulasih's condition was full of wounds, her head seemed to have been hit with a hard object, her ears were swollen and her hands were stained," said Roland Kamal from SBMI Jeddah.

Anggi, according to SBMI, asked the Indonesian Consulate General in Jeddah to provide protection so that his mother could receive treatment and be sent home after her rights as victims were fulfilled.

Suib Darwanto, chairman of the SBMI Jeddah, said the Indonesian Consulate General, Muhammad Yusuf, confirmed the case and the Consulate General had taken steps to get Sulasih treated at the hospital.

Meanwhile, Roland Kamal said Sulasih entered Saudi Arabia not as a laborer but on a pilgrimage visa and left in November last year.

SBMI said if indeed Sulasih entered with a pilgrimage visa, then this was a violation, and the perpetrator must be held responsible.

Since 2011, the Indonesian government has stopped sending migrant workers, but there are still migrant workers entering in a number of ways.

In the law on eradicating trafficking in persons, it is stated that the perpetrators of this crime could be sentenced to a maximum of 15 years in prison and a fine of IDR600 million.,
