Antibodies against coronavirus were first isolated in Russia

News24xx.com - For the first time in Russia, scientists at the Institute of Molecular and Cellular Biology in Novosibirsk received antibodies that neutralize the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus. It will help to develop the means of prevention and treatment of COVID-19. It is reported by TASS.

Antibodies were isolated from the blood of patients infected with coronavirus using the technology for sorting single B-lymphocytes. Protein compounds are able to block the interaction of the virus with the ACE2 cell receptor, which plays a key role in the penetration of the pathogen into human cells.

Scientists at King's College London previously reported that 60 percent of patients report a very high level of immunity to coronavirus three weeks after the onset of symptoms. However, after three months, only 17 percent of patients retain strong immunity to infection.

Other data was obtained by Chinese scientists. It turned out that in more than 10 percent of the studied patients, antibodies can disappear from the body within a month after recovery.
