News24xx.com - The Jakarta Provincial Government has temporarily shut dozens of offices in the past week, an official said, after their employees tested positive for the coronavirus.

According to official data, from July 28 to Aug. 4, a total of 29 offices were shut in the capital, including three that failed to comply with COVID-19 health protocols.

“Twenty-six workplaces were shut because [their employees were diagnosed with] COVID-19, while three were shut because they did not comply with COVID-19 health protocols,” Jakarta Manpower, Transmigration, and Energy Agency Head Andri Yansyah said in an official statement today.

The affected offices were quite evenly spread out throughout Jakarta’s municipalities, with Central Jakarta contributing to the largest number of temporary office closures with seven. Among the workplaces infected include the West Jakarta City Hall canteen and several bank offices.

The administration did not disclose specific data on the number of infections at each affected office. All infected employees have been placed in isolation while their offices will be shut for at least three days, during which time they will be thoroughly disinfected.

Officials previously identified 459 infections in 90 workplace clusters in Jakarta from the start of June to July 28.

The number represented a ten-fold increase of workplace infections since Jakarta began transitioning away from its Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) partial lockdown measure on June 4.
