News24xx.com - The Iranian government has accused Twitter of letting anti-government bots circulate, but on the other hand it has closed accounts belonging to the original Iranians. This accusation was made by Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif through his official Twitter account. In his tweet, Zarif addressed the accusation to Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey.

According to Zarif, Twitter closed accounts belonging to genuine Iranians, including several television presenters and students. These accounts are closed because they are suspected of being part of a campaign.

But on the other hand, Twitter actually let the bot circulate, especially in propaganda related to regime change in Albania, according to Cnet, Monday, September 17th 2018. "How about looking at actual bots in Tirana used to prop up 'regime change' propaganda spewed out of DC? #YouAreBots" Zarif wrote in his tweet.

Jack Dorsey, whose Twitter account was mentioned, did not reply to Zarif's tweet. Twitter also has not issued its official statement regarding the Iranian Foreign Minister's tweeted.

Previously, Twitter and Facebook collectively deleted hundreds of fake pages, groups and accounts related to disinformation campaigns, precisely in August. Twitter specifically mentions that it has closed 284 accounts related to the disinformation campaign in Iran.

Twitter, Facebook, and Google have recently been monitored by many parties because their social media platforms are widely used for disinformation campaigns, such as false news spreads related to 2016 US presidential election.
