News24xx.com - Last weekend a 1945 Romanee-Conti, a wine bottle from Cote de Nuits, was sold for USD 558 thousand or equivalent to IDR 8.49 billion. Sales occurred at an auction at the world-renowned auction hall, Sotheby in New York, United States.

Romanee-Conti is a famous wine producer at that time and since the first wine was made as many as 600 bottles in 1945, reports Food & Wine, October 15th 2018. After the wine production, the wine tree was removed and replanted. Therefore, this wine is considered rare and extraordinary by Serena Sutcliffe, head of the Sotheby's international wine department. "The best bottles are very thick and exotic whose alcohol lasts a long time" the description for this wine wrote on the auction.

Both wines managed to break the record for the most expensive standard-sized wine ever sold. Before this bottle of wine, there was wine from Chateau Lafite Rothschild which was successfully sold for IDR 3.5 billion in 2010 in Hong Kong.

Reportedly, three magnums from Romanee-Conti's 1937 wine also managed to be sold for IDR 4.7 billion per bottle. Each of these also rivaled the prices for the most expensive bottles from various sizes. According to Quartz, this auction is included in the 5 most expensive wines ever sold in one place.
