Aston Martin will build its first design factory outside of England

News24xx.com - British car manufacturer Aston Martin founded their design manufacturer in China. The construction was carried out as part of a partnership with Tongji University Shanghai. This step is fairly important for Aston Martin because this is their first design manufacturer outside the UK.

Aston Martin Chief Creative Officer, Marek Reichman was quoted as saying by autoevolution, on Saturday, October 27th 2018 said this studio will be used to design the interior of the car that will be produced later. One of them is the first SUV Aston Martin which is planned to be launched by the end of 2019.

"Collaborating with industry leaders and gifted students at Tongji University will enable us to have a deeper understanding of trends in China, ensuring we focus on customer needs in China" Reichman said. Although being designed in China, Aston Martin cars will still be made by human hands in UK. As for the Aston Martin SUV, the car will take the basis of the DBX concept car which had released in 2015.

The distance of five years between the time the concept was introduced and the start of production is caused by the earlier Aston Martin planning to produce at the former Royal Air Force complex, St Athan, Wales. The place was also the birthplace of the new Lagonda car and electric car, Rapide E.
