News24xx.com - 18 years is a very long time to wait for someone to pay their debts, especially when the amount is only USD 80 (Rp. 1.1 million)

Despite the long wait, Derick Khoo's patience bore fruit when his debtor finally returned his debt.

Even though it looked like a small problem, Khoo was so touched by the change in attitude of others that he had to share about the incident on a Facebook post last Friday (January 18).

The debtor was one of Khoo's former friends while working for a national soldier in the Singapore Armed Forces in 2002. The friend borrowed money from Khoo, arguing that payment from the Forces was not enough.

Even after completing his national service assignment, the man had not returned Khoo's money. The man then changed his number and could not be contacted.

At that time, Khoo had given up and did not blame the debt.

"If I am prepared to lend, I am prepared to lose everything," he wrote, letting the problem pass.

Over the next few years, the two managed to meet again, where the others promised Khoo that he would return the amount. Even so, he still failed to pay and finally changed his number again.

On Jan. 17, Khoo received a call from an unknown number asking for his bank account number. Interestingly enough, the callers called it "Mr.". Khoo initially thought it might be a fraud call, saying: "Why in this era still call me sir."

Apparently, it was the same person, called and promised that he would definitely return the amount of money this time. That's right, he sent a photo of the transaction receipt confirming the transfer of USD 80 to Khoo.

After waiting 18 years and giving up for a long time seeing the money returned to him, Khoo could not believe his eyes. For Khoo, it was not the amount of money, but the actions of others that caused tears to flow from his eyes.

"He finally did it and came out of his 'always empty promise'. I know that my man finally wants a change in his life!"

Khoo finally donated the money. Some netizens praised the man for his honesty and sincerity, commenting that he gave them confidence in humanity.

Khoo also received some praise for his patience, because not everyone has the same amount of tolerance to wait that long.
