Wednesday (22 January 2020) is a historic day for Sukiyah, a woman in her 50s who lives in Karangombo Hamlet, Sesa Polobogo, Getasan District, Semarang Regency, Central Java.

That day was the first time Sukiyah had her hair cut after being left for decades.

Unfortunately, Sutiyah is estimated to have lived in that house for around 27 years.

Sukiyah's hair was cut by Ardian, volunteer from Salatiga Quick Action Response (ACT).

According to Ardian, in Sukiyah's 2 meter long hair, he found human excrement and a rat child.

Ardian explained that Sukiyah almost never talked to other people, but he tried to approach her.

For 30 minutes, Ardian spoke and asked Sukiyah for permission to cut her hair.

Sukiyah's hair cutting process takes about 20 minutes.

According to Ardian, besides being long, Sukiyah's hair was very tough when cut.

"The hair on my neck chills all the time when I cut it, I sweat," Ardian said.

After having her hair cut, Sukiyah asked to wash her hair with black shampoo.

She also requested that the hair on her head be treated because Sukiyah claimed to find three caterpillars nested in her hair.

Even though she is blind, little Sukiyah still has her normal activities and helps her parents garden.

Sukiyah's behavior was considered strange, and she began to close herself at the age of 10 years.

She prefers to shut herself up at home and never socialize.

For decades, she only stayed indoors.

After his mother died three years ago, Sukiyah once slept on the porch of the house.

By residents, Sukiyah was put in a house.

Every night residents lock the door from outside so Sukiyah does not leave the house because no one is watching.

By residents around, Sukiyah's house was electrified, but the light that was lit was damaged by Sukiyah until the house was always pitch black.

All Sukiyah activities are carried out at home, including bowel movements and urination.

This triggered a pungent odor at Sukiyah's house.

To eat, the neighbors take turns delivering food for Sukiyah.

Usually the neighbors will put food in front of the door.

Darkumi, a local resident, said that Sukiyah last took a shower about a year ago.

At that time there were six adults holding Sukiyah.

However, Sukiyah rebelled and even had time to bite the hand of Darkumi who helped her.

After having her hair cut, Sukiyah was taken to a social foundation within 4 kilometers of her home.

Ardian tried to convince Sukiyah that the people around Sukiyah were good people.

According to Ardian, Sukiyah's development was quite significant.

Even though she only stayed one day at the foundation, Sukiyah was able to adapt.
