By Playing the Violin During Tumor Surgery, This Patient Successfully Cured

News24xx.com - A brain surgeon in London, England, asked his patients to play the violin during the tumor removal surgery.

This was done to ensure the patient's musical ability is not affected due to operations performed.

This information was then distributed in video form by the King's College Hospital, where the operation took place.

Inside, a patient named Dagmar Turner (53) plays the violin, while neurosurgeon Dr. Keyoumars Ashkan and his team removed the tumor from the skull.

Ashkan explained Turner's brain was mapped before surgery to see which parts were active when he played the instrument.

He said the tumor was found in a dangerous area close to the area of ??the brain that affects fine motor skills in the left hand.

Although somewhat strange, the results of this operation are not kidding. The team of doctors managed to remove 90 percent of tumors without damaging Turner's musical ability.

Turner was sent home three days after the surgical procedure. This woman hopes to return to playing with the Isle of Wight Symphony Orchestra - a music group she has been joining.
