“Campaign against hoax needs to be promoted to raise concerns and participations from civilians, so the campaign becomes a joint movement,” said the head of Communication and Information Agency of Musi Banyuasin, Dicky Meiriando, after visiting the Information Commission in Palembang, on Monday March 19 2018.

He said, spreading inaccurate information to trick people is against the law, in Indonesian regulations paragraph 55 about public information openness.

He said, the campaign against hoax in social media that they did was supported by the Information Commission of South Sumatra.

With enough support, the campaign is expected to run maximally and effectively and prevent anyone with the potential of spreading hoax.

“We hope that everyone can behave in social media, so there will not be any criminal offense and any charged given by people who are harmed because of it,” Dicky said.
