On April 24th, Facebook will be blocked by the government, turns out was hoax

News24xx.com - Until now still viral discussing in social media. Mentioned that on April 24th, Facebook will be blocked by the government of Indonesia.

The government can indeed take firm action by blocking Facebook. This is because a lot of data users of Indonesia citizen were leaked due to act of Cambridge Analytica (CA). Calculated about more than one million users are affected.

However, the truth about Facebook blocking in Indonesia was not true at all.

Minister of Communications and Informatics (Menkominfo) Rudiantara in various occasions never said will block Facebook. Instead, Rudiantara said the Ministry of Communications and Informatics did not hesitate to block Facebook, but must be in accordance with the procedure so the steps will not recklessly taken.

The only assertion Rudiantara about blocking Facebook is, if found evidence that Facebook is used as a means of inciting.

Menkominfo also make sure if the investigators found the element of alleged criminal in leakage of Facebook users data in Indonesia, the possibility of blocking up the greater.

In the meantime, these two things can not be proven, still under investigation and awaiting audit results.

"If there is an indication that Facebook in Indonesia is used for sedition acts, as happened in Myanmar, I have no doubts to block it" Rudiantara said on Wednesday, April 11th at Kominfo Building, Medan Merdeka, Jakarta.

Rudiantara has asked Facebook to conduct an audit, and submit the results to Kominfo. The request was included in the first Warning Letter (SP) sent by Kominfo.

However, Facebook has not submitted any audit results. Then Kominfo also sent a second warning to Facebook. "Currently, it is SP II.We wait, after SP II can be elevateded to temporary service termination if necessary" said Rudiantara last week, April 11th 2018.

If then the audit results are known, then the government can measure potential problems that can arise from this data leakage and take steps to overcoming it.

Another statement was mentioned by Vice Chairman of Commission I of DPR RI, Satya Widya Yudha in Hearing Meeting with facebook on Tuesday, April 17th 2018. He called the blocking up is not a solution, given the truth, Facebook has many benefits for Indonesian citizen.

According to Satya, if Facebook does not have good behavior, then blocking can be considered. "Before going there (blocking), it must be understood first, because Facebook is also useful for communication at this time" he said.

The incident of the Cambridge Analytica scandal has attracted global attention. The analyst firm itself is a political consultant who helped Donald Trump's winning campaign in the 2016 US presidential election. There are 87 millions global Facebook users data stolen by CA. Indonesia occupies the third position as a country with the most data users stolen.
