News24xx.com -  The Moscow Basmanny Court decided in closed session to consider the issue of choosing a preventive measure to the governor of the Khabarovsk Territory Sergei Furgal in the case of contract killings of entrepreneurs.

According to a Business FM correspondent, such a decision was made at the request of the senior investigator for particularly important cases under the chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, Yuri Burtovoy. He referred to the threats received by the participants in the criminal case.

“During the investigation, a number of participants in criminal proceedings announced threats, and state protection measures were taken against them,” he said. At the same time, the investigator added that the court may decide on a closed process in order to ensure the safety of the participants in the proceedings and their relatives.

Prosecutor Sergei Bochkarev supported the request. “This will help preserve the personal data of participants in the proceedings and their safety,” said the representative of the Prosecutor General.

Sergei Furgal himself and his lawyers left this issue to the discretion of the court. “As for me, there were no threats addressed to me. I do not see threats against me and others. As for others, it’s hard for me to judge, I leave it at your discretion, ”he said.

After that, Judge Arthur Karpov granted the request for the investigation. Earlier, Interfax, citing a source, said that businessman Nikolai Mistryukov, who testified against the governor, was taken under state protection. TFR asks to arrest the head of the Far Eastern region until September 9.
